The mentality to trade
There is one thing, that almost every human being has, and that will not be stopped. I am talking about the trading mentality.
Even hard-core-communists are still willing to make trades with you. In every socialist society (and to an extent, I would like to call all western societies socialist [of the 20th century definition of the word, state socialism]) there are black markets. In the Soviet Union, there were huge black markets.
But also in countries that are considered capitalist, there are black markets. Whenever something is taxed (at least if it's taxed high enough), there will be people willing to sell the good or service "under the table", for a lower price. Smuggling, working under the table, etc, are all effects of taxation and regulation.
There is no way to stop the trading mentality. (And it should not be stopped.)

It is one of those facts that seems so elementary, yet so many fail to grasp it. You do have to wonder at the sanity of those who wish to abolish free trade, what does it say about someone who would deny either themselves or others an exchange that is explicitly beneficial to both?
